Here Goes...
The aim of this blog is to examine the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church's claim to stand:
I'm a convert to the Catholic Church via the ICCEC; I believe the Catholic Church's claim to be founded by Christ as the fullness of the means of salvation; and I have a burden to see my friends and family in the ICCEC come into the fullness that Christ has for them. As such, I have spent much time and energy over the past few years examining where the Catholic Church and ICCEC's claims meet, and I have decided to air my thoughts in this regard on this here blog. I hope to have charitable discussion and argument (as opposed to quarrelling) with others interested in this topic.
We'll see how it goes...To the medieval mind, debate was a fine art, a serious science, and a fascinating entertainment, much more than it is to the modern mind, because the medievals believed, like Socrates, that dialectic could uncover truth. Thus a ‘scholastic disputation’ was not a personal contest in cleverness, nor was it ‘sharing opinions’; it was a shared journey of discovery. —Peter Kreeft, "The Summa and Its Parts," Christian History, Winter 2002

I am a convert from the Roman Catholic Church to the ICCEC. While you correctly point out the many areas of comonality in beliefs between the two churches, the papacy will always remain an area where there can be no agreement or compromise between the churches. For me the fact that the ICCEC does not recognize the papacy was what attracted me to it the first place. I've always been uncomfortable with the idea of papal infallibility. There are other areas where I was uncomfortable with the Catholic church. I had spent many years exaimining other faiths. A friend introduced me to the ICCEC about four years ago. I began attending services on a regular basis. It was the first time in over thirty years I felt comforable in a church.
I am in the process of becoming a priest in the ICCEC. This Sunday I will celebrate my first mass as a Deacon in the church. Had it not been for the ICCEC and the wonderful people and clergy I found there, I would never have had the relation I now have with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My soul would have been lost. I would never have been saved. For the life I have now I am grateful.
Hey Anthony, thanks for the comment. I've pretty much retired this blog. If I could redirect you to my other (not much more active) blog: DIY Catholicism, I would very much like to interact with you there. (I would like to specifically direct you to the post titled "The Well and the Shallows".) God bless!
